Their deserts used to be made by the owner and were spectacular. Unfortunately that changed not that long ago. Now appear to be store bought.
I'm 46 and I can remember it from my very early childhood when my grandparents owned the motel next door to it
Call the restaurant
Sorry we Close on Thanksgiving so staff can spend time with their family and friends
Fish fry starts at noon to 8
Best place that I have ever been. Nice cozy place with delicious food. I ordered a chicken fried steak that was delicious. There were lots of customers around.
A nice, but very popular breakfast spot. Good food and friendly staff.
Food was undercooked, grilled cheese is always a challenge for me too. Quaint little historical place tho, and the server was super nice!
Stopped here the other day. The food and service were both good. The Cakes, 5 layers each, looked amazing. But we went with the Almond Joy Chocolate Pie, and yep that was amazing as well. We will be back....
I was really pleased with the Horseshoe Cafe & Bakery. We chose to go to it on a whim since we were in the area, but found that it had one of the most robust menus (far beyond what a "cafe" or "bakery" would normally serve - more like a diner) in the Benson area (at least that we'd experienced). The service was fantastic, with everyone being very helpful. The food was great, and the prices were spot on. If you happen to be staying in the area and looking for a place to eat, I'd highly recommend this cafe.
The Horseshoe Cafe has friendly Down Home Service, really good food and the best pies and pastries we have ever tasted. And I'm not kidding they are the best I've ever tasted! Be sure to stop if you're in the town of Benson in Arizona.
Had a great breakfast here the other day... first time here after living down the I10 in Vail for 15 years. I had cycled through all the breakfast joints in Benson through the years, apparently saving the best for last! Very busy, but we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was on point and was over within 5 minutes to take our order. I had the bacon/eggs and biscuit/gravy combo. I gotta say, their bacon is the good kind -- quality for you bacon aficionado's like me. The biscuit and gravy was delicious! I am not a big biscuit/gravy person like some people I know but their biscuit was gargantuan and the gravy was savory and yummy.I am perplexed by the mixed reviews... I like to cut restaurants slack when they are busy or short staffed. Perhaps that is the issue with the people having less than stellar experiences.
A taste of grandma's cooking. Absolutely wonderful place to stop, relax and grab a great mall. Plus desert. See pic. I had the chicken cordon bleu and wife plus one had fish and chips. Everything was excellent. Building is from way back when this town was hoping. Has some great hidden history.
Friendly staff, clean facility! Food was good, good portions! Different specials daily. Taco/margarita tuesday!! Awesome. I would definitely return when next in the area.
Wonderful restaurant! Cordial servers! They have homemade Corned Beef Hash—a rarity nowadays! The eggs were done perfectly. It is worth the stop if you are traveling on highway 10.
Glad they are back open, smaller menu, fantastic service and wonderful food. They properly kept people separate and we're all masked up.
Good food but services is slow somentomens
The service was awesome, food excellent. I didn't try the pies or cakes but you should see them. Made in house and huge slices. Everything that went past us looked incredible. Drink specials too. Just in town for a week but will be going back before we leave.
We heard that thus place was good. It really isn't It's a typical mom and pop restaurant where they sling out food that is ho hum. My husbands burger and fries were cold, friends salad had browning lettuce. Our other friend had meatloaf. He said it was o.k. but I could tell it was a hunk of meat covered in gravy made from a bag.
Very good food. We ordered the Ruben sandwich, wrangler burger and the chicken-fried steak sandwich. They brought a chicken-fried chicken sandwich instead but we didn't mention it until the check. All the food was very good. Just a mix up in the order kept them from 5 stars.
Found amazing reviews of restaurant. Not sure why. Ordered to go and on pickup found server clicked wrong button and ordered a sirloin steak instead of a Salisbury steak. They were supposed to correct it and what we got was an Way over cooked hamburger pattey with onions and peppers. Our potatoes were whatever not mashed. No gravy whatsoever. Our side was peas with with bacon and onions according to server. Just frozen peas. Fine, just do not embellish.
Delicious homemade food and great service! The biscuits and pie are a must. If you are in the area this is a place you definitely want to go to for food.
We came in on a Friday night with 11 people staying at Butterfield RV from Mesa. We had a reservation but the place was slammed. Thinking it was going to be some wait we settled in. Within 5 minutes we were called to a nice table in the back room. The food was fantastic. Drinks good and reasonable. Our waitress was super. We will definitely be back. In fact we’re going to breakfast there this morning.
Went here on a whim since I've never been to this area ever. Looked online and it was only place open early and had good ratings, I can see why they have good ratings. Food came out nice and hot the server kept coming around to refill our coffee cups.
This hole in the wall in a small town. Was obviously the regions favorite breakfast place. From what I could tell people were traveling from all over to enjoy breakfast there. I had chicken fried steak and eggs with biskets and gravy. It was a healthy portion and filled my stomach. If I'm ever in the area again I'm definitely returning for another world class breakfast.
This place is classy, just like grandma's cooking, fast service good food, wish there was more places like this, totally recommend to check it out for a good time and a good meal.
Food was absolutely fantastic and the soup was amazing. The young woman who serve this was an absolute pleasure and made our dining experience very enjoyable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious meal
A must if you stop in Benson, comfotable local eatery with warm and friendly staff. Avocado bacon cheeseburger was awesome!!! Definitely worth it and will be back again.
Homemade food was excellent. Service was outstanding. Staff was friendly and helpful. We tried the pie. It was great. The meatloaf was sold out, so go early if you want that. We're thinking of going again just so we can try it. The cheesy potato soup was excellent. Perfect for hubby but too much pepper for me.
Food was very good. Service was as expected for a Sunday after church. We enjoyed our dining experience.
Desert was wonderful we had a chocolate, pecan, turtle something that was to die for. I thought it was going to be way too sweet, but it wasn't, it was perfect. It was more like a pudding filling, but home cooked, old fashioned style. I really don't have a sweet tooth, so we shared a piece, I really could have eaten my own, since I only ate half my sandwich. I'd have forced myself to eat an entire piece it was so good! Our server was exceptionally a doll! The grilled chicken sandwich, and onion rings were incredibly delicious!
Chicken 🍗 fried chicken 🐓 and the soup was a five star ideal. Nice touch with the neon on the ceiling: On trend since 1936 ✨ get there before 6pm on Saturday night because this is the place to see and to be seen in Benson, AZ.
Got really good portions and lots of elbow room hea haw
Usually eat at Horseshoe on the weekends. My first visits was in the late 50's when we went to Lake Zurich, IL. This calf has been there for many years and is still a good place for. brealfast. Good prices and wide selection.
Absolutely delish little cafe! Must stop! Massive portion omelette, additions and biscuit and gravy. Fantastic items! Great little location with super service. Local favorite and because of this, I had to stop and visit. easy access off the freeway. This Alaskan will stop back in if we visit again.
Great food, great service their biscuits are huge, sausage gravy very good. This will become my favorite breakfast place along as I'm the area...
Friendly service and our order was ready as promised. Easy parking and good atmosphere.
One of our favorite places to go for breakfast or lunch out of town. Went for lunch on New Year's eve and had the country fried steak sandwich. Delicious as always. Chose the chicken tortilla soup as a side, which was also very good
We live in Bisbee, but we often go here for birthdays, and celebrations. It's the best food around. The pie is awesome, the everything is awesome. 😂 From the prime rib, to the chicken strips, even the sandwiches. I took some pictures but as usual w3 always dig in before I snap a photo. We love it here, and the staff is awesome.
Wonderful service and awesome comfort food! The rueben sandwich is amazing and corned beef cooked in house. Had a Cobb salad that was really well done and huge. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing by, through or in Benson. Line out the door for lunch, but convenient outdoor seating for your fairly short wait. No wonder they have been there since the 30's!
Food was very good, service was great. We must have talked for a couple hours or more, and nobody seemed to mind. Coffee refills kept coming. A couple Tombstone-looking old style cowboys came in, sat at the counter, and said they were filming a movie nearby. That's always an interesting occurrence...certainly played up the western charm.
We are from San Antonio TX , and I can tell this place is great for family time and also kids friendly, service was great and food what I expected!
I would have given them a 5 except for seating people a foot or two apart, no social distancing, and only a couple customers came in with masks. That made us very uncomfortable. It was not busy when we arrived or we would not have stayed when it got crowded. The waitresses were wearing masks, but not some of the staff that came out from the back. The food was very good and we will go back when the pandemic is over, but not before.
Very well done American food. Tenders were first rate!
Good food a bit crowded but cant help it with this Corona going on. Keep up the business.
My favorite meal to eat at Horseshoe Cave is breakfast, I never leave hungry or disappointed. They have a great variety of choices to choose from and friendly service.
Aesome place and great food looking forward to going back
As a restaurant owner i will say first.. Before you rate a restaurant you must visit the place a few times and try most of the menu,, i have.. Discovered Horseshoe Cafe about a year ago while my many trips from San Diego to Las Cruces. Horseshoe is as good as it gets when it comes to a mom n pops Cafe.. Friendly staff, home feel, great value, tasty grub always..Ashley your the best server ever! My favorite is breakfast at the Horseshoe yum yum. will always come back.
After all the favorable reviews... was very disappointed with our meal. No one at the front counter for about 10 minutes to seat people. My sandwich came on hard, dry toast. My husband's "Monte Cristo" was basically a cold ham and cheese on soggy French toast. They forgot his cup of chili, and no one really checked to see how we were doing until she brought the check. Really felt our $25 tab could have been spent better elsewhere.
Upon entering there was a wait of 5 minutes. Once we were seated we placed out order and it arrived pretty quickly. I ordered a cheeseburger with vegetable soup. Both were very good. At our table we also had a Cobb salad, a jumbo shrimp platter and a taco salad. Each plate could feed two people. Excellent service, and good food. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Fantastic! When we first walked in, we weren't so sure if it was a good idea to eat there. But we were wrong. It was fantastic! The food was delicious and very well priced. The server was very kind and made us feel right at home. It really was a wonderful evening. I'm definitely eating here if I'm in the area again!!I recommend the ribs - very tasty. And don't forget to order a cake or pie, they were great too!
We came up from tucson because we heard how good it was. Great food at a very reasonable price. We had 4 in our party and was only $42.00 our grandson was blown away by the size of his chili cheese dog as were we all. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Loved everything about Horseshoe Cafe and Bakery. Oldie but definitely a goody. Great food and super service ! Portions were very generous. A real gem. We will be back. Check out the Horseshoe Neon on the ceiling of the main dining room.
It was a very nice cafe experience. I especially like the wait staff as they seem to help each other. It was not spectacular but the prices went with the type of meal that we received. My husband got the chef salad and really enjoyed that very much.. they could have used something else besides head lettuce. I got the open-faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. It could have been served a little hotter but all in all it was quite good. Looking back I should have gotten the homemade soup of the day instead of the salad. We could not resist sharing a piece of coconut cream pie. It was delicious and they told us that the pies are made fresh everyday.
Food was decent, good lunch prices, but our wait was long. We ordered an appetizer that came out right after meals were delivered so we got all our food at once after a 45 min wait. I doubt we'll stop back, but had to try the rustic looking cafe on the main drag.
